WYSO Brand Refresh

Branding & Identity, Print

The Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra of Madison, Wisconsin was in need of a refresh. As a nonprofit organization, their access to professional design resources were limited, and thus their brand look was disjointed, dated and uninspiring. The main mission of WYSO is to engage middle through high school-aged students in ensemble music opportunities, but the current brand didn’t really speak to kids. And, being a former WYSO member myself (go bassoon!), I was honored to help the organization that had once been a large part of my life.

I refreshed their logo with new typography and also built a new color palette with fun, punchy colors that would attract kids. I designed a musical pattern, graphics for merchandise and a branding system that volunteer designers could maintain easily.

Previous WYSO materials used multiple variations of the logo, random fonts and inconsistent colors.

A new printed brochure was designed to showcase the variety of programs available and the new visual identity for the organization.

New concert materials were designed with a highly adaptable structure that could be changed easily for each individual concert series moving forward.
